In cities across the world, Halloween 2020 was canceled. To give kids something fun to do, R/GA teamed up with Netflix to bring an AR haunted house into their homes.

There were many hurdles to success. Each lens needed to be a unique experience that leveraged either designed characters, or Netflix IP (Room on the Broom, Go Go Cory Carson, Super Monsters, Gnome Alone). The fast approaching, immovable deadline (Halloween) meant we had to get inventive with the process.

The Studio team worked with the creatives and client to prototype interactions and experience. This gave us the ability to quickly iterate and present new ideas that served both creative excellence and the schedule. We then delivered our prototypes to pl.ai to refine the lenses and add some very special sparkle.


Throw items from Room on the Broom into the cauldron to make the Witch and her friends appear.

Characters were designed specifically to introduce the experience.

Go! Go! Cory Carson hops from pile to pile of candy that appears wherever you tap.

 

Using proximity sensing, the photo of Vida from Super Monsters comes to life when you get close.

An infinite numbers of portals spawn when you tap, causing troggs from Gnome Alone to jump in and out of them.
